Open up an agricultural science experience for 11th-grade students with hands-on experimentation, real learning, and fun with biotechnology through genetics and plant tissue culture learning stations.
This activity is designed to give students hands-on practice, enhance scientific skills, and learn laboratory working processes through learning stations that connect knowledge in biology, biotechnology, and agricultural applications.
2 fun learning stations
decode the genetic code of living organisms
Learn and understand the genetic code of living organisms, from biomolecular sample extraction and genetic material synthesis techniques using PCR, to running gels to study DNA characteristics.
Plant tissue culture
Practice the seed surface sterilization procedure, nutrient medium preparation, and inoculation of seeds onto synthetic media inside a laminar flow hood to germinate and grow them into clean, disease-free plants under controlled conditions.
🔵 Learn by doing
The activity is designed to provide students with both knowledge and direct experience, enabling them to apply thinking, analytical, and problem-solving processes to their daily lives while creating a fun learning experience and illustrating how science can be connected to agricultural technology.
There are scientists supervising every learning station.
Every station has knowledgeable and expert scientists acting as mentors to oversee, guide, and help the younger participants learn while having fun, making science easy to understand, not boring, and less complex than they might think.
